Red, White and Blue - Sensory Play

Since it is a big day for us Americans.  I thought it would be fun to put together a red, white and blue sensory tote.  I already had everything on hand from 4th of July and the Olympics this past summer.

I filled two patriotic hats with white beans.
Then loaded it with all the other goodies like, beads, pom poms, bracelets, star clappers, flags and more!
Plus, of course, tongs and ice cube trays for transferring.

4th of July Tot Tray ideas

There are some great PreK packs and tot packs out there.  Since we are doing a 4th of July theme this week.  I thought it would be easiest to set everything up as tot trays.  Then I can post it all at once.  :)

Here are links to three 4th of July PreK/Tot Packs and one BBQ themed Tot Pack.
Plus, the direct link to the 4th of July activities on DLTK.
I used pages from some of these below.  Just click on the link to see all the pages in each tot pack.

This is for my 17 month old.  She will love to place the objects in the ice trays.

Glitter Fireworks Craft - Easy

This weeks red, white & blue themed craft is
Glitter Fireworks

This craft is so simple to make.
You only need paper, glue & glitter.

It does get a little messy with the glitter.  Glitter always sticks around for days after even after a vacuuming.

Use glue and make the shapes of the fireworks.
I made one firework at time.  Then I shook off the extra glitter and used it later.

Checking out her art work that is drying on the table.

DIY - 4th of July Lanterns

Red, White & Blue Lanterns

These would be cute for any event.

Supplies needed:
cardstock
glue
scissors
ruler (optional)
stapler
paint, stars (link to template below), stickers & glitter (whatever you want to use to decorate them)
I printed the star template on red, white & blue paper
click here for the star template
A good time for cutting practice!
These lines are about 3/4" apart.
I have to be honest, I only measured the first one.
After that, I just eye-balled it. :)

Then fold the two ends together and staple just the top and bottom.

I also used the paintings they made last week

This was also from a patriotic craft we made last week.
I love how this one looks.
For the handle:
I cut a piece of cardstock about an inch or so width wise.
I glued them to the inside of each lantern.
I saw some really cute 4th of July themed ribbon at Hobby Lobby today.
I want to go back and get it to hang the lantern's on that.
