DIY - Alphabet I-Spy Bottle

I wanted to make an Alphabet I-Spy bottle for a while.  I just didn't want to spend the extra money on the letter beads.  But, I found a package of letter beads at Michael's on clearance for $1.49. Jackpot!

Supplies Needed:
Plastic bottle rinsed and dried- I like gatorade bottles
rice - you can use white rice if you don't have time to color it.
alphabet beads

*You can hot glue gun the lid in place, if you are concerned about your little one opening it*

You can use anything with the alphabet.  Print something from online, write the letters or type them out.  I received this 8x10 alphabet in one of our Citrus Lane boxes.  I glued it to a piece of card stock and laminated it. 

I-Spy Bottle - For your toddler

Snowflake is always interested in the I-Spy Bottles I make for Junebug.  So, I wanted her to have one to explore and shake!

This bottle originally started out as an I-Spy Bag:  See my original post here

She was as interested in it when it was in the bag.  So, I took it a part and put everything in a gatorade bottle.  Perfect!  She loves looking at everything and shaking it!

*She did insist that I take Mickey out of the bottle.

DIY - Dr. Seuss I-Spy Bottle

Dr. Seuss I-Spy Bottle

Target has a lot of Dr. Seuss themed items in their $1 bins right now.  I was excited to find some really cool things for our Dr. Seuss unit.  Especially, these erasers.  I knew they would be perfect for an I-Spy Bottle!

 1) I put the erasers on our copier/scanner.

2) I cut each copy of the eraser out and glued them to a piece of card sock

3) Laminated it

 I put all the erasers in the gatorade bottle first. 

 Then I added the colored rice. White rice is fine too. 

 She is really into "The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That" right now. So, I knew she would love this I-Spy Bottle.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear - I Spy Bottle

I loved making this I-Spy bottle for our Brown Bear, Brown Bear theme.

Both of my girls love this book.  It is fun to add different activities to books to keep them interested.

 I printed out the template twice and glued each picture back to back.
*This picture shows colored rice and pasta shells.  I only used rice in the bottle. 

Supplies needed:

Template

colored rice

clear plastic bottle - I used a gatorade bottle

scissors

glue stick - if you want to make the pictures back to back. (optional) 

1)Fill the bottle with 3/4 of the way with rice.

2)Drop in each of the animal pictures.

3)Hot glue gun the lid to the bottle

I spy - Farm Animals

I made this I-spy bag as one of our "Letter of the Week" activities. (during the week of F)

 I got a small package of farm animals at Walmart for $3 in the toy section.  The pencil bag was 97cents.

Simply fill the pencil bag with rice and plastic animals. 

Once filled hot glue gun the zipper closed.

I printed out pictures of all the farm animals using Word's clip art.

I then laminated, cut & hole punched them

Add something to tie the cards to the bag. 

I used a piece of pipe cleaner.

Did I mention this one was super easy to make?

I-Spy "Beginner" Bag (no sew)

I called this a beginner I-Spy bag because I filled it with larger items from around the house.  I thought it would be a good start for a 2 & 1/2 year old to get the idea of searching for the items. 

I bought a pencil bag from the Dollar Store.  I also saw them at Walmart for .97 in the school supply section.  I found some items around the house that I thought she would like "searching" for in the bag.

I also love that this will fit in her 3-ring Quiet Time binder!!!

 Once the bag is filled with the items and rice, I hot glued the zipper shut.

 I took a picture of the items and laminated it.
